Southerness Southerness, Dumfries, Scotland
Southerness Golf Course is a true Championship Links course, measuring 6566 yards from the white tees. With the par being 69 and the Standard Scratch is 73 lends to the difficulty of the challenge ahead.
The course is situated in the south of Scotland on the Solway coast giving panoramic views of the Solway Firth, the famous Lake District to the south, and the Galloway Hills to the west.
Each hole is entirely separate from each other and the feeling of isolation is greatly enhanced. Ross's brilliant design has been complemented in Golf Monthly magazine who have included Southerness in their list of top 100 courses in Britain and Ireland each year since 1990.
Despite it not being one of the better known links in Scotland, the Scots certainly know about it and have been keeping this hidden gem to themselves.
