St Andrews (New Course)

The Links,
St Andrews, Fife
Scotland

Founded 1895
Course Architect Old Tom Morris
Links
Par 71
Standard Scratch Score 72
Length 6,604 yards

The New Course at St Andrew was built in 1895 at the request of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club who had Old Tom Morris lay out the 18 holes alongside the Old Course. It is a classic links course which suffers only from its proximity to its more famous neighbour and lacks nothing in quality or design features.

Large undulating greens can be found once the often tight fairways are safely negotiated, and rest assured that the gorse and natural grasses will take hold of any misdirected drives. Featuring some of the finest par three holes in the town, the New Course is medium in length allowing for playability from all standards of golfers.

Do not allow its name to suggest that it is an inferior test to the Old, for that line of thinking will bring your game apart. Many local St Andrews people prefer it to the Old as an overall test of golf.
