Trump Turnberry Ailsa Course

TURNBERRY RESORT, TURNBERRY, AYRSHIRE, KA26 9LT, SCOTLAND

Long regarded as one of the finest courses in the world, the Ailsa course at Turnberry came to international prominence with the famous ‘duel in the sun’ between Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson over the four days of the 1977 Open. It was then, in brilliant sunny weather, that a capacity crowd was treated to an exhilarating display of golf from two of the best golfers the world has ever known. Greg Normans round of 63 in horrendous weather in the 1986 Open is often thought of as one of the great rounds of links golf ever. And who will ever forget the 2009 Open when Tom Watson came so close to making history only to lose out in a play-off to Stewart Cink.

The course has wonderful coastal views particularly around the famous lighthouse are reward for playing the Ailsa course. The turf is lush and running, the greens generous and true while the overall layout of the holes provides an exciting test. Luxury abounds at the Trump Turnberry Hotel, and the views from the rooms and the facilities within the complex, adds to the splendour of the experience.
